The Tribe is a Ukrainian film, directed by Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy, set in a deaf boarding school where everyone communicates in sign language. When a teenager joins the school, he wins acceptance into a network dealing in crime and prostitution. But when he breaks the unwritten rules of the tribe, his future is threatened.

“It is something I identify with,” Mach says.

Unlike a lot of Polish 17-year-olds, he decided to turn his appreciation into an app business. After six months of work, he released Five, a messaging app for Android, iPhone, and Apple Watch that lets you and your friends throw one another custom hand signs, like the kind rappers throw.

BDA Northern Ireland have had the opportunity to work with the Public Health Agency to create film clips describing both the Breast Screening process and Cervical Cancer Screening. Information has been produced in both BSL and ISL, along with subtitles making it easily accessible for all. It is important this information is shared with women. I would appreciate it if you could publicise this information as much as possible to your friends/colleagues, as I expect many Deaf women will find it very beneficial.

Irish Deaf Channel Swimmers won the Sheena Patterson Spirit of the Year Award

Irish Deaf Channel Swimmers won the Sheena Patterson Spirit of the Year Award at ILDSA (Irish Long Distance Swimming Association) Leinster in Bray on Saturday, 31st January 2015.

IDWG Chairperson Gaye Regan and Board Member Mary Nolan attended the ILDSA Awards Dinner Evening to share celebrate with the swimmers for received the award.

Congratulations to Irish Deaf Channel Swimmers.
